Landmark Aviation SDL Mechanics Win FAAST Awards for Third Consecutive Year

Houston, TX — 12/02/2010

Landmark Aviation Mechanics Mark Beatty and Del Willeford were honored at the 2010 ASAG Safety Banquet on Saturday, November 6th in Phoenix. Beatty was recognized as the 2010 FAAST Mechanic of the Year, while Willeford was named 2010 FAAST Avionic Technician of the Year.

The event was hosted by the Aviation Safety Advisory Group, a volunteer organization made up of aviation professionals that assess safety issues, create educational programs and assist the FAA in identifying regional aviation trends.

Tim Weber, a respected airshow performer, spoke to recipients, guests and industry professionals at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Phoenix, Arizona.

Landmark Aviation has been recognized for three consecutive years by the ASAG, winning Mechanic and Avionic Technician of the Year in 2009 as well as Mechanic of the Year in 2008.

Beatty has more than 18 years of experience in aircraft maintenance. He is known for his thorough approach and “Safety First” attitude. He carries this over to his training techniques, ensuring that each new mechanic at Landmark is able to grow and develop their skills with a firm basis on safety.

Willeford has nearly 40 years of experience in aircraft avionics and currently serves as Avionics Manager at Landmark Aviation. According to Inspector Frank Miller, Del’s belief in teaching safety first has become his trademark and the key to his success.

As a result of Beatty and Willeford’s leadership and focus on safety Landmark Aviation—Scottsdale’s MRO has never had a safety incident occur.

Beatty and Willeford’s regional recognition has earned them nominations for the National FAAST awards. Winners will be announced at the awards banquet in August.
