Cedar Rapids, Iowa was founded in 1849 on the banks of the Cedar River. Our Midwest town has grown into a manufacturing and communication center of the heartland. Cedar Rapids is one of two cities in the world with both its courthouse and city hall located on an island, the other being Paris, France.
The Amana Colonies, located only 15 minutes from the airport, is a German community with authentic German food and shops. The University of Iowa is 22 miles to the south and is the home of the Hawkeye's. Downtown Cedar Rapids offers a variety of museums, comedy clubs and nightlife.
